The Dumaguete Host Lions Club
celebrated its 50th Charter Anniversary on March 25-26, 2000. It was a 2-day affair graced by 27 members
and guests of the Sumoto Lions from Japan, the sister club of the Dumaguete
Host and members of the Bacolod Host Lions, also a sister club. The re-twinning
ceremony of the clubs Sumoto Japan
Lions and Dumaguete Host, and the

Filipino-Japanese-American Shrine in Sagbang, Valencia were the main highlights
of the event.
The Sumoto Lions arrived early on the 25th. Some of the Lions played a round of golf, while others had a tour
of the city. Lunch was taken at Lions
Julianing and Flory Teves’ beach house in Sibulan, in time with the Bacolod
Host Lions’ arrival.
The formal dinner was held at the Escaño kiosk with City Mayor Felipe
Antonio Remollo, as guest speaker. The

yen for whatever projects the Dumaguete Host Lions will have.
On the 26th, the Lions went to Sagbang, Valencia to inaugurate the
Filipino-Japanese-American Shrine.

… the party that turned grown men into
kids

The Metro
Dumaguete Lions, well known for their unwavering support for the orphanage in
Valencia, celebrated their annual Christmas party at the Friendship Home
Orphanage on December 12, 1999.
Bearing boxes
and boxes of gifts and armed with prizes for the games, the Lions led by
President Allen Kwan sought to bring joy and happiness to the children.
Several games
were conducted, laughter was abundant, and their delight was clearly seen on
their faces.
The ripping
of colorful packages brought about the cheerful spirit of Christmas, and for
that day, all the children were jubilant.
To show their
appreciation, the children presented a number for the Lions.
