An Enchanted Evening with Jose Mari Chan

With Special Guest Carol Banawa of
“Little Mermaid”, AN ENCHANTED EVENING WITH JOSE MARI CHAN was held at the
Claire Isabel McGill Luce Auditorium on October 14, 2000 to raise funds for the
Drug Prevention Program of the Dumaguete City Host Lions Club. The 2 and a half hours show featured the
live performance of Jose Mari Chan, his back-up singers and band, and Carol
Banawa. Tickets were all sold out. Chan not only sang but also entertained the
audience with his humor.
Martin Niviera Concert

In cooperation with the Mary Immaculate
Parish Women’s Association(MIPWA), the Metro Dumaguete Lions Club will be
hosting the Martin Nievera Live in Concert Show at the Lamberto Macias Sports
and Cultural Center which can accommodate 5000 persons on November 17,
2001. Louie Ocampo will be the musical
director of the said program.
The proceeds of the concert will be for
the City Street Signs Project and the Medical Program for the Indigents.
July 29, 2000 - The
Induction of Officers for LY 2000-2001 was held at the Bethel Guest House with
Lion Governor Pompeyo Querubin as guest speaker. Querubin’s cabinet and members of the Bacolod City Host Lions
Club, the sister club of the Dumaguete Host, also attended the occasion.

A life Membership Award was also awarded to Lion Julio Sy.
July 31, 2001 - Justice
Venancio Aldecoa inducted the officers for Lion Year 2001-2002 and 2 new
members. He was also the speaker during that occasion. A Post Humus Award was
awarded to Lady Lion Cornelia Gregorio.
September 10, 2000 – The Dumaguete City Host and Metro Dumaguete Lions Club
participated in the Alay Lakad.
Dumaguete City Host won the biggest contingent award and the largest
solicitation award.
October 16-22,2000 – The Dumaguete City Host Lions Club was in charge of the
security for the week long UNI Games in which several universities from all
over the country participated in.

November 18, 2000 – The Dumaguete City Host Lions Club repainted the club’s
donated benches at the Rizal boulevard and the Lions Club Landmarks at the Port
Area.
December 9, 2000 – The Metro Dumaguete Lions Club joined the city’s Handog sa
Bata project and gave 5,000 apples to the indigent children. Apples were also given to the Talay
Rehabilitation Center.
December 17, 2000 – The Metro Dumaguete Lions Club held their Christmas Party at
the Valencia Friendship Home Orphanage.
Gifts were also given to the children.
The Club also provides the orphanage with a sack of rice every month.
December 23, 2000 – The Dumaguete City Host Lions Club gave white gifts and
magazines to homeless children. The
Club also contributed an amount to the Movement against Drug (MAD) activity run
by the PNP.
January 2001 – The Lions International approved the twinning proposal of the
Dumaguete City Host Lions Club with the Mississauga Lions Club of Mississauga,
Ontario, Canada.
The Metro Dumaguete
Lions Club donated VHF Radio-base with antenna to the Traffic Management Group
of Dumaguete City on January 23 and February 3, 2001.
March 2001
– Both clubs attended the 3rd Cabinet Meeting and District
Convention at the Grand Convention Center, Cebu City.

May 2001
– The Dumaguete City Host Lions Club built comfort rooms and improved the Talay
Rehabilitation Center.
May 30 – June 3, 2001 – Both Clubs attended the Multi District Cabinet Meeting in
Baguio City.
September 16, 2001 – Both Clubs participated in the Alay Lakad 2001 in which the
Dumaguete City Host Lions Club won again the highest solicitor award.
October 27, 2001 – Lion Ebenezer, Jiji & Elnathan Lim, with Leo Edrei Lim,
attended the joint induction of Officers and Members of the Bacolod City Host,
Bacolod Airport, Bacolod Katipunan, Bacolod Sugarlandia, Kabankalan Pinasaje,
Bago City Host, Silay City Host, and Victorias Venue Lions Clubs at the Garden
Royale, Goldenfield Commercial Comples, Bacolod City.

A Magic and Music
Show featuring Lou Hilario, reputedly the number one magician in the
Philippines; and Jenine Desiderio, formerly “Kim” in Miss Saigon, was sponsored
by the Metro Dumaguete Lions Club on February 10, 2001 at the Claire Isabel
McGill Luce Auditorium. The club also
invited the children of the Valencia Friendship Home and the Rainbow Orphanage
to watch the show for free. The matinee
show was at 3 pm and the gala show started at 8 pm. The proceeds were used to defray the expenses in the ongoing
anti-drug billboard campaign of the club for the schools in the community.
